Dorothy Oak's request that the Deschutes County library remove 17 books containing homosexuality was denied. Oak, a leader in the Oregon Citizens Alliance, challenged the books independently of the OCA. Library director Ralph Delamarter highlighted the library's importance in providing access to a variety of ideas, even if they are unpopular.
