Banned books week (September 22-29, 2001): national event celebrates civil liberties, especially freedom of speech

This year's Banned Books Week coincides with the 14th annual report of the Oregon Intellectual Freedom Clearinghouse. Between July1, 2000 and June 30, 2001, there were 47 challenges to public and school library materials. Examples are given.
