Abstract

An attack on crime comics, growing out of a meeting of 80 interested persons representing various organizations, spurred the formation of a council of seven civic leaders. The task of this council is to study the problem of censorship of crime comics and bring in specific recommendations within 30 days. This editorial states that the community has a right to set up minimum standards of decency for crime-comic publishers to observe, and that censorship can be achieved without threatening free speech.
