Abstract

After a contested election in Jordan in which many opposition candidates withdrew in protest, mobs of people began to attack the police, embassies, and the U.S. Information Service Library. Protesters thought the withdrawals were due to foreign interference and took out their anger by breaking into the library and burning books.
