Parkrose school board decides to retain book

Parkrose School Board; parents
retained in the curriculum with a letter of consent sent to parents 3 weeks before the books would be covered.
The book depicted life in Harlem and was required reading in Black Studies class. The parents voiced concern about the vulgar language. The language was considered by the Board as appropriate given the subject matter.
