Abstract

Two Oregon Moslems are calling the book ‘The Satanic Verses’ an insult to Islam; however they both say that the reward for the death of the author by Ayatollah Khomeini is too extreme. They both agree that the book says hurtful things about Mohammed and his wife; however the death threat is going too far. They say that in the Koran violence is not allowed and that forgiveness and patience should be exercised. They also say that the reaction in Iran was only a small fraction of the 1 billion Moslems in the world. The book was sold out at B. Dalton Booksellers and also at Waldenbooks.
