Abstract

The fairy tale “Three Billy Goats Gruff” will stay on Jackson county school shelves after a meeting of the Eagle Point School Board on Thursday night. The board voted unanimously to keep the story without even discussing the merits of the work. The superintendant Stephen E. Miller said that letters came from as far away as Rhode Island and Illinois urging the district not to remove the fairy tale. Miller also stated that they have the responsibility to uphold the first amendment rights for all individuals. The parents who complained about the book where invited to the meeting, but they did not make an appearance.
