Abstract

Parent Annette Hazlett is requesting that the book “The Enormous Crocodile” be banned from The Dalles School District 12. Hazlett says that the book should be removed due to objectionable content. The school is appointing a six member committee to review and make a recommendation about the fate of the book. Hazlett says the book is not appropriate as the crocodile wants to eat children for lunch. There is a passage of the book quoted where the crocodile talks about eating children. Hazlett says that it is totally unnecessary for any age and that the mind doesn’t need to be filled with thoughts that demean children. In its place Hazlett says any fun, scary, adventure book that doesn’t demean human life.
