Abstract

In this opinion piece, Ron Maclean says that refusing to show materials that demonstrate the Holocaust never occurred has lost the library the chance to ridicule such a theory. He says that the Institute for Historical Review should have been allowed to put on their display, but in order to do so the members had to spend an afternoon watching films that were taken by the Allied troops when they liberated concentration camps. Maclean also says that the Jewish community should have been permitted to have a simultaneous display. He says that by the library refusing the display it gives credence to the Institute’s accusation that opponents have been brainwashed. Maclean ends saying that only through education can such ideas be destroyed and that every opportunity should be taken to enlighten those who believe the Holocaust never happened.
