Abstract

In this response to David G. Conn’s letter on October 12, Bruce A. Moon address Conn’s request to vote against the library budget proposals. Moon says the library is bound by its own principal to provide free and equal access to materials and to make sure there is diversity in those materials. Moon then says that since the materials the library has will not appease everybody, then why should those people who oppose playboy have any special consideration. He then says that it would be a tragedy for the library to close but it would be more of an atrocity for the libraries shelves to be dominated by a group of self-appointed vigilantes. He ends the article by saying that on voting day a vote against the library is equivalent to a vote for censorship.
