Abstract

The Oregon Library Association urges Oregonians to protest Ballot Measure 9. If passed, the measure would amend the state Constitution and prohibit the use of government property or money to promote or facilitate homosexuality. The Oregon Citizens Alliance proposed the measure to support ‘traditional values’ and set standards for Oregon youth. Censors could challenge books that portray homosexuality as normal and demand their removal from libraries.
