Abstract

School librarians and booksellers marched through downtown Portland in protest against Measure 9. They urged voters to protect youth from censorship of books by rejecting this measure. The initiative is promoted by the Oregon Citizens Alliance, a Christian fundamentalist group. The impact of the measure on schools is unclear because of the broad language, but Measure 9 would require schools to treat homosexuality as unnatural.
