Ge ready for the witch hunt
The Daily Astorian (Astoria)
The Oregon Citizens Alliance successfully sponsored the passage of the anti-gay measure which amends the Springfield charter, prohibiting city government from promoting or facilitating homosexuality. Opponents of the measure fear it will lead to censorship of library materials and threaten the freedom of speech. A city councilor has already started examining the titles of books ordered in the last six months by the local library. When a similar initiative was on the Oregon ballot in 1988, opponents called it a “witch hunt.”
