Abstract

The Springfield city library is involved in the first major challenge to the anti-gay rights measure recently passed. Opponents of the charter amendment, proposed by the Oregon Citizens Alliance, gave the library three children’s books found objectionable by the conservative political group. The donations are intended to test the measure which prohibits city government from promoting homosexuality. If a Springfield citizen formally challenges these books, the OCA will directly support the action.
