At local libraries, concern fades over online access to porn

Abstract

The Deschutes Public Library’s Internet access policy has remained consistent over the last twelve years and use of library computers to view pornography has decreased. Under the policy adopted in 2000, adults can choose to access the entire Internet or a filtered version that blocks sexually explicit materials. All Internet access in the children’s area is filtered. If library staff see a person that is viewing explicit materials, they ask the patron to stop or leave the building.
