Abstract

School librarians and booksellers marched through downtown Portland in protest against Measure 9. They urged voters to protect youth from censorship of books by rejecting this measure that is promoted by the Oregon Citizens Alliance, a Christian fundamentalist group. The measure would amend the state constitution, prohibiting state and local government agencies from using funds or property to encourage homosexuality. The protesters held books they fear will be banned if Measure 9 passes.
