Abstract

The author compares the controversy surrounding the Oregon Shakespeare Festival's boycott of local store Shakespeare Books and Antiques to Gilman’s play, "Spinning into Butter," wherein a liberal college town is in racism-fueled turmoil. The author suggests that the OSF board distance themselves from their artistic and executive directors who instigated the boycott.
