Brief Bio

Dr. Catherine EunJoo Kim is Associate Professor in the College of Education at Pacific University. She coordinates the ESOL endorsement program, and is also the advisor for the undergraduate TESOL minor program at Pacific. She is also the project director of NPD (National Professional Development) program, a federally funded grant to support STEM educators’ professional development in teaching English-Language Learners.

This paper discusses the findings from an action research project investigating how the awareness of cultural diversity and intercultural competence are promoted in a teacher education course that was offered in a hybrid format (combination of online and face-to-face class meetings), based on the analysis of the course participants' online discussion postings, project reports, and their course reflections.
