The purpose of this research experiment was to determine the effect of revascularization of the lower extremities on selected balance measures, strength, and proprioception in persons with PAD. Ten male subjects with Peripheral Arterial Disease were initially tested for standing balance, ankle muscle strength, and great toe proprioception prior to surgery. Ages ranged from 49 to 71 years of age with a mean age of62.9 years ± 7.68 years. The mean height of the subjects was 70.3 inches ± 1.43 inches with a range of68 to 74 inches. Results demonstrates that the mean %LOS for all three conditions decreased significantly after surgery (p=0.018).
