Abstract

An extensive literature review was conducted to examine and describe issues related to racial identity development, psychopathology, and treatment for multiracial clients. This literature review attempted to provide clinicians with access to past and present research from a variety of fields, with the aim of helping them conduct more informed treatment with multiracial clients. Theories of multiracial identity development from the past through current times where examined, recent research on psychopathology was synthesized, and relevant suggestions for treatment were presented.
