Abstract

Current literature on anger control interventions for children and adolescents is reviewed. Program considerations, pretreatment issues, and assessment methods are discussed, in addition to intervention methods. The intervention methods reviewed are (a) physiological arousal management; (b) cognitive restructuring; (c) problem-solving skills training; and (d) parent management training. Findings from a selective representation of the current interventions are presented. Broadly, the data indicate that anger control interventions are successful at improving children's self-perception of anger control, selfesteem,
and positive behaviors; however, interventions have not been successful in
maintaining decreases in aggressive behaviors. Suggestions for further research are presented.
