Blown, etched, enameled and gold-leafed glass
12" x 8" x 8"
As a partner in a production glass studio, we made a variety of forms, mostly functional bowl shapes. These collaborative gold-leafed pieces, however, were not a production item. After the piece was cooled I etched and enameled the surfaces to achieve the pattern of interlocking trapezoidal shapes. Developing a rich and complex surface has always been an area of interest for me, beginning with paint on textured canvas and progressing through etched, hammered and patina effects on metal and more recently, with the textured and glazed or painted ceramic forms.
