Abstract

Throughout history it has been said that responsibility, values, character, and social skills should be taught by parents. While few, if any educators would disagree, most would admit that this type of training is not found in all homes. More and more, schools are finding it necessary to provide training and instruction in this area. This research project addressed this issue. I conducted a review of the literature, chose and adapted two strategies found to be successful in teaching individual and communal responsibility, and implemented those strategies within my classroom.
