Abstract

This paper focuses on the teaching and learning experiences of a beginning teacher. A case study approach is used to depict this teacher's growing understanding of her role as a teacher. It examines to professional development of this teacher in her first year and relates these findings to the literature on beginning teachers. Based on the interpretation of these findings, implications for teacher preparation are considered.
