Abstract

This is a qualitative study about strategies used to keep students on-task. The purpose of this study is to look at the various methods used by three different elementary school teachers to keep their students on task. This study compares the strategies used in the classroom with strategies found through research. Although many of the strategies found through the research were used in the classroom, positive reinforcement and organizational methods were used more frequently in the classroom than the research indicated. The results of the study also showed two techniques that were not present in the research- direct quotes and reminders.
