Abstract

Preventive Disciplinary strategies for the Elementary Classroom is an analytical paper designed to present data on classroom management skills that build preventive disciplinary strategies currently observed in classrooms. ~he research is based on the conceptual framework of Rudolf Dreidurs: the teacher assuming the role of a responsible guide and a democratic leader. This research paper follows the model of educational connoisseurship and criticism, focusing on qualities found while participating as a student teacher in multiple elementary classrooms in a suburban school. The purpose of this paper was to build a repertoire of preventive disciplinary strategies for use in the elementary classroom. This research paper is a resource which offers techniques presently employed by elementary teacher.s tl1at encourage appropriate classroom behavior and an educational environment where students are profitably engaged in the learning process.
