Funds are dwindling in the education system and schools are finding ways to make their dollars go further. The curriculum is being juggled and people in certain programs are being cut. Coaches are among those being released. A solution to aid both curriculum and academic programs is to hire someone who can do both jobs, teach and coach . What kind of benefits can be gained from this dual role? This paper is focused on coaching and teaching methods used in teaching their respective students. More specifically, the methods used on the field and in the classroom have been examined. The goals of this paper consist of finding similarities and differences in coaching and teaching methods. The ultimate goal was to observe the transfer of teaching methods in each, across that academic and athletic line. Many interesting findings and conclusions have been made through the observation of two head coaches (football and volleyball) of different genders.
