Abstract

The purpose of this qualitative study is to show how and why having an effective classroom management system is important to having a well-functioning classroom. The study focuses on the many aspects of a classroom,management system and tells how to implement specific strategies and techniques. The review of the literature tells why authors believe classroom management to be important and the individual techniques they recommend. The observations and interviews with practicing teachers tell what management techniques they use daily and tell what affect these techniques have on their classroom environment. The methodology section offers a description of the research site and my per-sonal classroom observations. The analysis portion compares the opinions of the authors with those of the practicing teachers. I will identify management techniques and strategies that are agreed upon to be effective and some that are not.
