Abstract

The question of whether the philosophy and goals of multicultural education are supported by multicultural curricula are examined. Historical and theoretical analyses reveal that this educational philosophy developed in response to pressures from minority groups for greater equity in education and that its goals are primarily attitudinal and highly diverse. The multicultural curricula examined does support ,some of the goals, however, the long-term benefits of this approach to education for minority groups is questioned.
