Book-banners try to remove 17 volumes from state's libraries

Seventeen titles were challenged in Oregon libraries between July 1, 1998 and June 30, 1999. Materials were retained in twelve cases. Challenges were filed because of sexual content or graphic language, violence, and material relating to the occult.
