Loralie Hawes holding an open copy of Secret Spells and Curious Charms
Loralie Haws holds a copy of "Secret Spells and Curious Charms,: a book her 8-year-old son brought home from the library. Hawes, a devout Christian, thinks that the book introduces children to Satanism and should not be available to them.
Salem-Keizer School Board will meet to decide whether to keep or remove "Secret Spells & Curious Charms" from the Swegle Elementary School library when a parent, who, as a teenager had been involved in the black arts, considered it an introduction to how to cast spells.
