A 5-person council was formed to screen all literature sold in the city.
A five person council was put together in the city of Ashland to review all magazines and publications on sale in the city. The council included the City Librarian, President of the City Council of Parents-Teachers, a professor at Southern Oregon College, and the Reverend of the First Baptist Church. The Reverend originally proposed the council at a meeting to address "objectionable" and "obscene" literature on sale in Ashland.
