All objectionable books being removed from East Germany; all schoolbooks being altered
East Germany is being purged of all books listed on the "Eisler Index," named after Gerhard Eisler, an American who works in East Germany. These materials include Hitler literature, "much of Western literature," and any material found offensive by Stalin. School books are also being censored. The author abhors this state of affairs, comparing it to Hitler's book burnings in Nazi Germany, and warns the reader of similar actions of censorship in the U.S.
