The Corvallis-Benton County Public Library director, Deborah Jacobs, spoke at a press conference against Measure 9. The initiative proposed by the Oregon Citizens Alliance would prohibit state, regional or local governments from encouraging or facilitating homosexuality. Supporters of the measure want the government to protect children from corruption by reviewing library materials. If the statewide initiative becomes law, librarians fear that books about homosexuality would be challenged and removed from library shelves.
