Brief Bio Sketch
Gil Muñoz, Chief Executive Officer, has worked for Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center since 1991 and has been Chief Executive Officer since 2001. He holds a Master’s in Public Administration from Lewis and Clark College (1995) and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Maryland (1984).
Mr. Muñoz has successfully developed high-quality, primary care services to address the health care needs of vulnerable populations in Washington and Yamhill Counties. Under his leadership, Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center has grown from serving 7,000 patients at two sites to now employing over 600 people, having a budget of over $60 million, and serving over 45,000 patients in 163,000 encounters per year at five primary care clinics, five dental clinics, six school-based health centers, and a mobile outreach clinic. He has been directly responsible for the clinic expansions that have occurred under his tenure: the construction of a dental and vision clinic in Cornelius, the opening of an obstetric clinic in Hillsboro, the opening of primary care clinics in McMinnville, Hillsboro, Beaverton and Newberg, the startup of our mobile clinic services, the renovation and opening of our pharmacy in Cornelius, in October 2012—the opening of a 35,000 square foot Cornelius Wellness Center, and in August 2018 the Beaverton Wellness Center.
Mr. Muñoz serves on the boards of directors/trustees of: Northwest Regional Primary Care Association (Member), OCHIN, Oregon Primary Care Association, Yamhill Community Care Organization (member), CareOregon Metro Steering Committee and Tuality Hospital.
