This thesis deals with the production of a prism in which the optical surfaces are parallel and the refractive index is varied in order to achieve the prismatic effect. The medium used in this discussion is gelatin. The refractive index gradient was achieved using the osmotic effects of glycerin on the water-based gelatin. Prismatic effects caused by the refractive gradient were then measured using a laser with the deflection being measured at a distance of ten meters.
