Despite the fact that clinicians employ a variety of interventions to treat symptoms associated with child sexual abuse, only some of these interventions are empirically supported (Cohen, Mannarino, & Rogal, 2001). This survey of 19 clinicians in the State of Oregon provides information about interventions used to treat sexually abused children and children with Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and training on working with sexually abused children. The most commonly used interventions with sexually abused children were relaxation strategies, followed by art therapy and psychoeducation. The most commonly employed treatment modality was family therapy excluding the offender. Relaxation strategies were identified as the most frequently used intervention with children with PTSD. Group therapy was identified as the treatment modality most frequently used with sexually abused children.
