Against advice, St. Paul bans Baldwin book

5 April 1989

Abstract

A parent/staff committee recommended "If Beale Street Could Talk" to be put on a restricted checkout; the St. Paul School Board chose to remove the book from the library. The article includes reasons for the parents' and the Boards’ decisions. The Board also restricted children grades K-8 from checking materials out of the high school library.
