Gender effects on children's learning styles

Abstract

Children are unique individuals who respond differently to various learning environments. The reason for this lies in the fact that children have different learning styles. These learning styles are shaped in part by past experiences. Since the past experiences of boys and girls are often different, it is likely that the learning styles between genders are different as well. To confirm these differences, this study utilizes surveys, interviews, and questionnaires directed towards first and third graders.

This study found that indeed there are many differences, as well as similarities, between the ways boys and girls learn. Teachers need to recognize these differences and similarities in order to teach more effectively.
