West Linn mom, dad grapple with values, free speech issues

24 April 1995

Abstract

Two parents asked the West Linn-Wilsonville School District to ban the book "Jumper" from Bolton Middle School because of a rape scene depicted in the book. A committee of teachers, parents, and school officials reviewed the book and recommended it be retained. The school board upheld that recommendation. The author adds that Oregon is one of the few states that tracks book banning and challenges.
