Gender differences in students' perceptions of failure in the classroom

1 June 1998

Abstract

The purpose of this qualitative study was to identify how students respond to their own failure when it occurs in the classroom. This study compared the behaviors of male students to female students. The data obtained in this study came from classroom observations, student questionnaire responses (see Appendix A), and teacher and student interviews. Some gender differences were found in students' coping mechanisms when dealing , with personal failure.
