Library censorship? No sign in Oregon

24 September 2000

Abstract

Editorial and Summary of the 2000 Oregon State Library Report on challenged and banned books in the state. Of the 32 challenges, all materials were retained. Does the library have an obligation to raise the level of culture or just reflect the lowest common denominator? The validity of public libraries using taxpayer monies to buy and make available vulgar materials when they can be accessed through the Internet is questioned by the author.
