Don't take it for granted

26 September 2001

Abstract

Banned Books Week brings attention to free speech and the right to read. In the past fiscal year, there were 47 intellectual freedom challenges of library materials in Oregon. Examples are included. The right to read what we choose is basic, and the same applies to parents supervising the reading choices of their children. This right does not apply to "everyone else". So, stop by your library and look at the books some people would like to keep others from reading.
