Chronic Fatigue Syndrome: A Clinician's Guide to Case Conceptualization

26 July 2002

Abstract

Given the ambiguous nature of the research on CFS to date, the aim of this study is to ascertain what may be the most useful way for a practicing clinician to conceptualize this complex disorder. The primary objective of this study is to identify the method or methods that may be best for assessing and treating CFS patients. By conducting a critical review of the literature on the history, etiology, and current methods of assessment and treatment of CFS, the overarching goal of this study is to advance understanding of this illness in a way that will enhance treatment efficacy.
