Mark Twain book dropped by educators

12 September 1957

Abstract

The Board of Education announced it would drop "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" from its approved textbook list. One publisher was told that this move was made because of racial slurs in the book. A spokesperson stated that it was dropped from the list because it was not a textbook.
