Guest Opinion: Confused by festival's objections

10 August 2016

Abstract

The author expresses confusion about the Oregon Shakespeare Festival’s boycott of an Ashland bookstore based on a controversial banned books display, saying that the display and OSF’s commitment to producing challenging materials have much in common. Freedom of expression and democracy are not always “pretty,” but are essential, as are the discussions they inspire.
