Research on the use of psychological assessment as a therapeutic intervention remains limited. Poston and Hanson (2010) performed a meta-analysis on the existing literature. Further analysis of the study reveals that the search criteria for the meta-analysis was problematically vague, allowing for studies to be included that did not truly assess therapeutic assessment or clinically significant outcomes. Additionally, the conclusions drawn by Poston and Hanson were only supported by a small number of included studies. A literature search for Therapeutic Assessment literature was conducted and supports the claim that further and more specific research is necessary in this realm.
