Oregon libraries remove 7 books

16 March 1992

Abstract

The Annual Report of the Oregon Intellectual Freedom Clearinghouse was released today to commemorate Freedom of Information Day. The report summarized the 54 written challenges made in Oregon during the school year that ended June 30, 1991. The most frequent objections to public and school library materials were graphic sex, violence and occult themes. Seven books were ordered removed from the library shelves in Oregon, including "Her Father’s Daughter" and A" Girl Named Sooner".
