Alienation, fear, and powerlessness: One transgender individual’s experience of incarceration

24 July 2015

Abstract

In this case study, I examined one transgender individual’s psychological experience of incarceration. I interviewed a Black male-to-female transgender participant about her experience in juvenile detention and jail settings. I identified themes of alienation, fear, and powerlessness.
