Examining the benefits and disadvantages of looping in the classroom

1 August 2006

Abstract

This paper takes a look at the benefits and disadvantages of looping in the classroom. I shared the benefits and disadvantages for teachers, students, and their parents academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviorally. My research only explored the opinions and experiences of teachers that have taught in a looping classroom. I reflected on how my research influences my opinion about looping, and how it will affect my future teaching preferences. I chose this topic, because I teach in a school that encourages looping. I wanted to educate myself about the topic, so that I could be more prepared to teach in a looping classroom . if I was asked. I also wanted to be informed about the benefits and disadvantages for other teachers, students, and parents that might be entering a looping situation. My hopes were that my research would answer people's questions, so that they would understand what looping is and how it works.
